Germany's Strongest Voices in Europe: Katarina Barley, Olaf Scholz, and Our Candidates
Candidates from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD)
Katarina Barley and Olaf Scholz are two of Germany's strongest voices in Europe. Both are members of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), and both have held high-level positions in the German government. Barley served as Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection from 2018 to 2019, while Scholz is currently the Federal Minister of Finance and Vice Chancellor of Germany.
Other German Parties
In addition to the SPD, several other German parties will also be represented in the 2024 European Parliament elections. These include the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Greens, and the Free Democratic Party (FDP). A total of 35 parties have been approved to participate in the election.
Upcoming European Parliament Election
The 2024 European Parliament election will be the first national election to be held in Germany since the 2021 federal election. It will also be the tenth direct election to the European Parliament in Germany.
1413 candidates will be competing for seats in the European Parliament in the 2024 election. Voters will be able to cast their ballots on June 9, 2024.
